#MetGala2019 : Cardi B’s Red Feather Thom Browne Gown Steals The 2019 Met Gala
By now everyone knows that the party doesn’t start until Cardi B walks in.
The 2018 Met Gala was a special occasion for Cardi B. At the time, it was Cardi’s first-ever Met Gala appearance and powered through it hand-in-hand with Jeremy Scott (who also designed her stunning Met Gala gown) while seven months pregnant with her daughter, Kulture, with rapper Offset. Now a year later, Cardi is back at the 2019 Met Gala solo, not that there was any space for a plus one with the size of her dress.

If there’s anything we learned from Cardi’s 2018 Met Gala look, it’s that she definitely knows how to follow a theme and own it. She shut down the Met Gala pink carpet in a custom burgundy Thom Browne floor-length gown with a train that basically covered most of the carpet. (Remember Rihanna’s canary-yellow Guo Pei gown from the 2015 Met Gala? Similar to that.) The Thom Browne dress featured puffy feather shoulders and hugged the rapper’s curves. Cardi teamed the gown with burgundy lace gloves and swept her hair under a headpiece embellished with red stones.

Cardi’s husband, Offset, was no wear in sight but the couple recently hit the red carpet at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, engaging in some steamy PDA. Cardi led the pack at the BBMAs with a whopping 21 nominations in 18 categories and walked away with six awards for rap female artist, rap song, Hot 100 song, collaboration, radio song and top selling song.
