If you don’t follow the modelling industry, chances are that you can put a face to names like Elle, Naomi, Gisele, Miranda, and if you caught the previous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show maybe even, Doutzen, Alessandra or Jess.

But there are many more models, who are changing the face (and body) of modelling, we caught with Qwanna Adoninaab, the curvy and courageous model . Strap yourselves in, this is going to be fun.

How long have you been a professional model?

Modeling professional for three years.

Did you walk into an agency or were you discovered?

 I was discovered.

What do you love about being a model?

I love meeting new people and networking. I love the fact that you can help boost people’s confidence by displaying confidence.

What are your greatest moment and your most embarrassing moment?

My greatest moment is when I realized that, I could/can become a model. I mean, even at my size. I realized that there was a market for women like myself. As far as embarrassing moments, I haven’t had any as of yet.I pray that I don’t get any.

Past and present model achievements?

I have had the chance to work with a lot of up and coming models and photographers. I have been invited to host a few events, but the best is yet to come.

What do you aspire to have or achieve in 5 years?

In 5 years, I aspire to have or achieve a global brand. I want to be one of the faces for plus size women. That everyday woman who maybe working, a mom, a student, a wife, a volunteer in the community, or even a care giver. One who can still feel good in her own skin and confident. One who can be superwoman, then turn around and be supermom. Educated and passionate. After it all done, take her cape off and be sexy and stylish. All while being a size 16-24

Who is your favorite designer to model runway for?

I don’t have a favorite designer at this point in time. However, I’m in love with Gabrielle Union’s collection at Fashion to Figure and Rihanna’s Savage X line and the regular Fenty line as well.

What beauty tips do you swear by?

I used VASELINE (petroleum jelly) for almost everything. It is a great skin conditioner. It helps me to keep my skin soft. I mix it with my shea butter. I can use it to help take my makeup off. I rub it on the heels of my feet to keep it smooth and free of callus.

Would you go nude for a million-dollar contract?

No, I can’t do nude. I’m not ashamed of my body but I believe that self-preservation is very important. Now, I can do suggestive nude. Meaning it may appear to the viewer that I am nude but, I am not.

How do you feel about the controversy of the size 0 debate in the industry?

Well to be honest, I think that women dieting and starving their selves to fit into someone else mole is wrong from the start. So many models are killing themselves by trying to lose weight to get notice. Designer must realize that everyone isn’t a size 0. A lot of these women are causing serious damage to their bodies. On some women a size 0 looks unhealthy. Some even look boyish and unfeminine. Designers should design for people of all sizes and stop all this. They must realize they are influencers and with that comes responsibilities. Subliminally telling people being that small is not a good look. When they should be telling them to live a beautiful healthy life.

Your face is your commodity. What’s your industry-insider to grooming perfection?

I just get real food and not a lot of junk. I wash my face often. Maybe two to three times daily. I wash it with pure DOVE unscented soap and moisturize nightly with a small amount of VASELINE and shea butter.

Any regrets about modeling?

I don’t have any.

What are the five fashion items you can’t do without? How would you describe your personal style?

 (1) edge control (2) body shaper (3) lip gloss (4) tooth brush (5) flipflops I would describe my style as realistic, comfortable, fun, classy, grown and sexy.

What do you think about the African modeling industry?

I see the industry is growing and I want to be apart of it.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for being a compassionate person. One that tried to uplift individuals in more ways than one. One who gave with her heart and left the world bits and pieces of her mind and knowledge. One who inspired other women and young girls as well as young men that they can be and do anything they want.

If a young girl/boy wanted to be a model what would your advice for them be?

Do it. Don’t let anyone tell you no.

Any last words to your admirers or shout outs to anyone?

Beauty is more than skin deep. The only thing that is truly PLUS SIZE about me is my HEART. Love yourself and others will love you. But it must first start with YOU. All of Ghana, for the support and love. To EFO Precious for the continuous support and helping to fuel this movement. To the CHEEKY BABY DOLLZ and YouBYou for the support. All the new followers and fans. Thank you deeply.
