Silvia Venturini Fendi Steps Down as Creative Director of Fendi
Fendi has announced that Silvia Venturini Fendi will be stepping down as Creative Director of the Italian fashion house.
Remaining within the Fendi family, Silvia will leave her directorial role to become Honorary President, effective October 1. She will continue to champion the brand’s rich history and craftsmanship while also focusing on Fendi Casa. Following Kim Jones’s exit as Artistic Director of haute couture, ready-to-wear, and fur collections, the 64-year-old designer fully took over Fendi’s womenswear and menswear lines. The house is moving forward with a complete creative reset, but has yet to appoint a new leader.
As the third generation of the Fendi dynasty, Silvia Venturini Fendi has shaped some of the house’s most defining moments. From designing the iconic Baguette bag in 1997 to overseeing accessories and menswear since 1994, she has revolutionized the maison with elegance and flair.
“These have been truly exciting years, a journey I have walked also in the name of my grandmother Adele, my mother Anna, and her sisters. My heart turns to Karl, an extraordinary master who granted me the honor of working by his side, teaching me the art of sharing, a defining quality in my family’s history of women, while guiding me to nurture and protect my own creative vision so that I could then fly on my own. What a wonderful journey it has been, not only creatively but also from a human perspective: first through my bond with Karl Lagerfeld, then with Kim Jones, and last but not least with my fantastic team, which over the years has become part of my family,” says Silvia Venturini Fendi.
