ARISE Fashion Week 2018 Day 3: Dzyn

The runway shows of the highly anticipated ARISE Fashion Week kicked off on 31st March 2018 at Lagos Continental Hotel (formerly Intercontinental Hotel) with stunning collections from various designers across Africa.

Dzyn showcased a punk collection on Day 3 of ARISE. Fashion Entrepreneur Ogwa Iweze is the Creative Director for Dzyn Nigeria. A women’s wear label in its 12th year. The brand has established itself as an Abuja-go-to for ready to wear and made to measure pieces for upwardly mobile women within and outside the FCT. This collection is called “STRINGS OF LIFE”, the pieces shows us life as we know it, stringed by emotions, experiences, extinction and rebirth; a continuous cycle each must complete but cannot solely attain. The looks give an optimistic feel with its vibrant colours, each dresses in this collection has a pop of colour, balancing the contrasts of pastels ad vibrant colours, emphasizing sharp angles and playing with varying tones throughout the collection.The colours in this collection varies from nude, black, a monochrome of black and white, metallic bronze and metallic silver. Tassels; These dated back to the time of Moses, “The Lord spoke to Moses instructing him to tell the Israelites to make tassels on the corners of their garments, to help them to remember all the commandments of the Lord and keep them (Numbers 15: 37 – 40) and also a sign of holiness. The tassels which are predominantly used in this collection are a burst of colours, ranging from metallic copper brown, metallic gold, white, blue, yellow and a host of other colours. Bringing spurts of vibrancy, happiness, positivity, energy, freshness and optimism. The tassels sway nicely when in motion, giving some sort of sexuality, confidence and illumination.
