PRINCESS CHARLOTTE followed in her mum Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge’s, fashion footsteps when she wore a unicorn statement bag at a earlier this month.

The four-year-old was pictured carrying her first accessory on July 22, when the Irish Guards posted a tribute to Prince George on his sixth birthday on Instagram. The photo showed the Cambridge children with their father Prince William. The Irish Guard’s mascot Domhnall was also in the photo.

The caption of the picture said: “Domhnall and the irish guards would like to wish HRH Prince George a very happy birthday.

“Always ready to serve.”

Despite the photo being a tribute to the six-year-old future king, it is Charlotte who has gained the most attention.

This is because she was holding a bag with an iridescent union with pearl blue ears and a horn.

There was also a strap coming out the unicorn’s head, which Charlotte was holding onto in the photo.

The young princess is not the first royal to don a handbag on days out.

Her great-grandmother the Queen uses her handbag to hint when she has had enough of social situations.

Her Majesty will reportedly put her bag on the table when she wants to leave dinner in the next five minutes and bring a party to a close.
