Cardi B Shuts Down The Grammys Red Carpet With Offset At Her Side
Cardi B is one of the biggest stars to hit the Grammys red carpet. Tonight, the rapper is nominated for a whopping seven nominations, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Rap Album. So the pressure for her to deliver a serious look on the red carpet was on, especially since she already manages to do so in her day-to-day life. She certainly didn’t disappoint. In fact, she shut down the whole night.
Serving spectators on a bit of a history lesson, Cardi wore an archival look (Look 130, to be specific) from Mugler’s Fall 1995 Couture show, originally shown at the Cirque d’Hiver, an iconic venue in Paris, as part of the label’s then-20th anniversary party. It was all extravagantly over-the-top and filled with exquisite showmanship; Mugler’s signature sculptural suits mixed in with theatrical coats and hats and gloves.
Cardi’s look? It was a blush satin sheath skirt, which started at the floor and fanned out at the waist, forming a sort of petal shape, as though Cardi was blossoming from it. And in a way, the statement piece served as a metaphor; the artist’s star is in full bloom right now. She wore it just how it appeared on the runway, too: with a sequin bodysuit that had a nude overlay, acting almost like a second skin, and long pink satin gloves. Around her neck and waist and twisted around her bouffant bun were strands of pearls that accentuated the ensemble’s throwback vibe. A fashion throwback to win all throwbacks.
The spectacle didn’t end there. Cardi shocked fans further by walking the carpet with Offset, proving that the couple, who recently took a break, are fully back on. He ensured all eyes were on his wife: the Migos member wore a black coat in crushed velvet and black pants, giving a subtle hint of flourish with a white ruffled top underneath. Of course, he didn’t go without his signature drip, though: layers and layers of shining necklaces rounded out this look. Combined with Cardi, it made for an unbeatable couple moment.
