Gloves Have Become The Hero Of The runway, Latest Fashion Accessory
Gloves have become the hero of the runway.
Of course, gloves have a practical use, they keep your digits warm and toasty. However, there has also been a fashion revival of this underrated accessory over the years. No longer just for winter outings or for debutante balls – gloves are a fashion statement.
The latest runway shows have seen the humble glove soar to new heights.
LOUIS VUITTON
Louis Vuitton’s leather gloves have a classic, old-school way about them. The proportions are exaggerated though, creating a scrunching effect that adds visual interest, making the glove becomes more of a statement.

DAVID KOMA & VALENTINO
David Koma was inspired by space travel, so his snugly-fit gloves have a more utilitarian feel to them. In contrast, Valentino’s Haute Couture takes a more editorial approach for a brightly colored, elbow-length glove. Creative Designer Pierpaolo Piccoli was inspired by the uniqueness of the times and wanted to showcase the bespoke nature of garment making. This pair feels like one of a kind.

SCHIAPARELLI
Schiaparelli keeps a couture edge and this pair of gloves is no exception. There is a charming absurdity to the oversized pair that is typical of the house. Beyoncé also wore a more refined, custom pair of Schiaparelli gloves to the 63rd Grammys.

MIU MIU
Miu Miu elevates the gloves we probably all grew up wearing as kids. The chunky, soft-knit gloves likely helped the models stay warm during their shoot in the Dolomites Alps.

CHANEL
Even fingerless gloves made an appearance in Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2021. These look cool and edgy without feeling dated.

The aforementioned designers each put their spin on a classic pair of gloves. The fact that this accessory can feel cozy or commanding, sexy or playful, shows its versatility. It offers designers a chance to reinvent a staple. Even better, the simple addition of a pair of gloves adds a layer of complexity to these collections.
We’re convinced that a statement pair is just the thing we need to reimagine our wardrobe.
