Ghana’s award-winning band Kwan Pa is stepping into new territory with the release of their latest project, Sweet Palm Wine, a musical drama that’s bound to make waves not only in the entertainment scene but also in fashion circles. Set to premiere on October 26 in Accra’s finest cinemas, this film captures the essence of a family’s journey from city life back to their roots, featuring Kwan Pa’s distinct palm wine music—a harmonious fusion of highlife, jazz, and traditional Ghanaian rhythms.

Kwan Pa, revered for bringing palm wine music into the mainstream, has crafted an exhilarating soundtrack to complement the film. Sweet Palm Wine, the album, drops on October 25, ahead of the film’s release, and includes nine melodious tracks, blending vibrant fashion influences with Kwan Pa’s signature sound. Their popular EP Palm Wine Music also makes an appearance on the soundtrack, with songs sung in English, Twi, Ewe, and Ga. Asah Nkansah, the band’s leader, and producer Kojosteve also contribute exclusive tracks to the soundtrack. “We wanted to create a musical experience that showcases Ghana’s rich culture and heritage,” says Asah. “Sweet Palm Wine combines drama, humor, and our music to tell a story of family, overcoming adversity, and finding love.”

Kwan Pa, formed in 2016, has carved a niche for themselves across Ghana and beyond, with international performances in Dubai, Moscow, and Qatar. Their lively performances and eclectic style have earned them multiple awards for the best traditional band in Ghana, along with hits like 5 Days of Christmas, The Kontomire Song, and Felix Cannot Dance.
