MoMu Enlists Raf Simons, Walter Van Beirendonck, Marine Serre And More For Grand Reopening
Museums around the world have been hit (like most other sectors) by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but things are looking bright for MoMu, the Fashion Museum of Antwerp.
To announce its grand re-opening — complete with an impressive and ambitious renovation that expands its display space — MoMu has tapped some of the fashion industry’s finest for a six-piece campaign. Enlisting Walter Van Beirendonck and Raf Simons, as well as Glenn Martens, Marine Serre, Rushemy Botter and Supriya Lele (the images above are also in that order), MoMu debuts a striking set of images that “aim to elicit emotion and hope to promote essential social dialogue,” as told by the museum.
The campaign coincides with MoMu’s Fashion 2.021 Antwerp — Fashion/Conscious program that’s due to open on the weekend of September 4 and 5, and will run until January 23, 2022. A world of exhibitions, open-air projects, city walks, and activities are to be put on by the museum, with each playing a part in MoMu’s bigger vision: examining an overarching theme about “the global transition and meaningful shifts within the world of fashion.”
It also expands outside of the museum as a physical invitation to experience a new kind of fashion in Antwerp, as the exhibitions and events will take place in the streets of Antwerp too. The aim is to “inspire visitors to reflect, participate, challenge set ideas, relax and inhale the fashion culture.”
In short, Fashion 2.021 Antwerp — Fashion/Conscious is as much about creating a dialogue between one another as the campaign itself, and in a similar theme to the program, the campaign also asks us to examine fashion and cultural ideas that are set in metaphorical stone. Take a look at the campaign images above, and find out more about the program on MoMu’s website.
