Olympic Gymnast, Simone Biles Is Magnificent On The Cover Of Vogue Magazine
Simone Biles, American Olympic gold medalist, who is currently preparing for the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021, has taken time off her busy schedule to appear on Vogue‘s August 2020 issue, and the images are both stunning and powerful.
The 23-year-old gymnast in an accompanying interview opened up about the heartbreak she’s faced in having to revamp her plans to compete following the Games’ postponement to summer 2021 among other things.

“I felt kind of torn and broken,” Biles said of learning she’d have to wait another year due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Obviously it was the right decision, but to have it finalized — in a way, you feel defeated because you’ve worked so hard.”
She also talks racial injustice in the country, and what it means to her to be a Black gymnast. “Growing up, I didn’t see very many Black gymnasts,” she told Vogue. “So whenever I did, I felt really inspired to go out there and want to be as good as them.”
According to Vogue, she was photographed by celebrate photographer, Annie Leibovitz in February and interviewed in March for the cover story.
“We need justice for the Black community. With the peaceful protests it’s the start of change, but it’s sad that it took all of this for people to listen,” Biles said. “Racism and injustice have existed for years with the Black community.” the world most decorated gymnast said as regards racial inequality.
