Vivienne Westwood’s Sun 2022 Collection Promises Sunglasses For All
Vivienne Westwood — under the Creative Direction of Andreas Kronthaler — has announced the release of its latest collection, Sun.
Westwood hallmark motifs and influences can be found throughout the collection, however, everything has been reinterpreted for today’s fashion climate, offering a range of sunglasses that could be from the past, present, or future. For example, experimental pairs appear in the same collection as one influenced by ’60s Italian glamor, while others are blown out of proportions and exaggerated in a contemporary manner.
Speaking on the Sun 2022 collection, Kronthaler says, “sunglasses should be the embodiment of personal theatre. They can make any look — they are an extension of your style. Of course they have a purpose, but they should be fun, playful, joyous.”
Indeed, Vivienne Westwood has brought plenty of fun with its new range. Split into three categories — “Vanguard;” androgynous and avant-garde, “Prêt-à-Porter;” retro and inspired by icons, and “Essence;” classics with signature Westwood details — there is something for everyone and all tastes.
Bio-based acetate and hardwearing metals combine on all of the pieces, best seen on the aviator-style sunglasses that feature an intricate design on the arm. However, standouts from the range have to be either the cat-eye frameless pairs with Orb detailing on the lens, or perhaps the thick black-framed offerings.
Each pair comes in a recycled by-product leather case that’s accompanied by an organic cotton bag, recycled polyester cloth, and a recycled and FSC certified paper presentation box. Take a look at the collection above, and purchase the range from March 21 online or in Vivienne Westwood boutiques in London and throughout the U.K., Paris, Milan, New York, and Los Angeles.
