Kid Cudi has once again showed up and showed out at the Met Gala. The boundary-breaking artist continues to turn heads, paying tribute to his designer friend NIGO and his most recent appointment as creative director of KENZO. As a follow-up to his dazzling Met Gala 2021 outfit, this year he sports NIGO’s first KENZO custom look for Met Gala 2022.

According to Vogue, NIGO took inspiration from KENZO’s Fall 1984 collection for Cudi’s tailored, evening ensemble. For the house, Fall 1984 marked a turning point for the brand, taking the runway to extraordinary heights with a focus on floral patterns and the pieces’ movement. Cudi’s outfit featured a vivid, royal-blue monochromatic suit that was paired with a major cape moment. Lined inside the caped outerwear was NIGO’s recent poppy motif, reimagined in blue to match the rest of the outfit. Additional details include the frilled cuffs that extended beyond the sleeves of the tuxedo jacket and a slit along the trousers to highlight the chunky Chelsea boots. Cudi shows off his rendition for a “black-tie” event with this contemporary tuxedo. To elevate his look, Cudi added two tear-like jeweled droplets under his eye, adding to the drama of the ensemble.
