Michaela Ewuraba Boakye-Collinson, known professionally as Michaela Coel is on the cover of Vanity Fair’s 27th annual Hollywood Issue alongside Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan, SpikeLee and many more.
According to the magazine:
The latest issue celebrates the 10 stars that rose to new creative heights, plumbed new emotional depths, and showed us hope and humanity. In the spirit of their artistry, V.F. teamed up with renowned conceptual artists Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari to create a dazzling fantasia in celebration of these visionaries who have been leaning in, learning and lighting the way forward.
The award-winning Ghanaian British actress, screenwriter, singer, songwriter, poet and playwright gets candid with the publication about getting to a tranquil place in her life during the pandemic.
“There was an article I read that said, ‘Put your hand on some area of your body and say, “In all fairness, I acknowledge how hard it is. This is a moment of suffering”.

Michaela Coel says she “always [feels] the presence of other people” while writing—namely, the audience she’s writing for.
