Versace is embarking on a fresh beginning. As of the present moment, the renowned Italian luxury label has cleared its official Instagram page, giving rise to fan conjecture online that the brand is poised for a new trajectory. This echoes trends seen before, such as Bottega Veneta’s complete departure from Instagram in 2021, Balenciaga’s comprehensive social media cleanse, and Burberry’s recent erasure of its digital footprint to unveil the vision of Daniel Lee. In the realm of fashion, a thorough social media reset often signifies a brand’s shift towards a novel perspective.

The blank canvas of Versace’s Instagram account follows the announcement by Tapestry (NYSE:TPR -1.92%) Inc. of its acquisition of Capri Holdings, the parent company of Versace. In a conversation with WWD earlier this week, Versace conveyed that this move is intended to “reveal an innovative approach to content sharing.” Enthusiasts can anticipate the commencement of the new social media strategy on Thursday. In an official statement, the brand conveyed, “Later this week, Versace will reintroduce its Instagram channel, presenting the Fall 2023 campaign in a magazine-style format, synchronized with the debut of the new seasonal collection in physical stores and online.” The statement persisted, “Our constant endeavor to enhance the modes of engaging with our community and drawing them into our universe remains paramount. This revitalized strategy spanning our digital platforms enables us to sustain our narrative-driven communication and furnish our global audience with the finest Versace content, presented in the most suitable format for them.”

Although further specifics concerning the strategy are yet to be unveiled, in recent weeks, the brand has unveiled a sequence of curated black and white campaign visuals featuring notable models like Gigi Hadid, Anok Yai, Angelina Kendall, and Karolina Spakowski. These images were lensed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. This occasion marks the first instance of Versace wiping its social media slate clean. To stay abreast of new developments, keep an eye on the brand’s Instagram feed.
